So sorry it has taken me so long to post today. I ended up getting locked out of the motor home this morning and the computer was in there. I had on my Pajamas and Justin's flip-flops because I was just driving Justin up to where his car was. I left the key in the motor home because I was coming back home. Then I came back and the door wouldn't open. No one can figure out how it locked itself because it is a dead bolt. So my grandpa came out and we called a lock smith and he got it open in no time. I am in the wrong business. I locked my keys in my jeep last week too so don't let me leave anywhere without my keys.
Phil is still having issues with his lungs. They had to increase his FiO2 to 80 percent and he is still not oxygenating that well. They really believe it is because of the pneumonia and his underlying lung shunting prior to his surgery. They have increased one of his antibiotics. We will have the results of the lung fluid cultures in a day or so to see if there is something else they need to cover with antibiotics. His lungs continue to be the big issue. They just switched him to this fancy digital ventilator. The nurse wasn't in the room when I went back so I don't know what advantage this was has besides just looking fancy. Please, please pray for God to heal Phil's lungs and that he can get off of the ventilator. They are going to continue to keep him sedated so that he is breathing more slowly. Today he is breathing at 18-20 times a minute. Pray that this infection doesn't spread anywhere else.
The liver is continuing to hang in there which is a huge praise because Phil's lung situation would not be good for surgery. His INR actually went down a little today to 1.9. Pray that God would heal this liver if that is his will. They said they are still waiting for the perfect liver and even if they did they would have to really think hard about taking Phil to surgery with his lungs how they are right now. They said that are 60-not/40-for taking Phil how he is right now to surgery. Continue to pray for God's perfect timing in everything and for the donor and their family. Pray for the surgeons for discernment/wisdom and that God would make the decision for them.
His kidneys are continuing to struggle. His BUN (an indicator of kidney function) went up again today and they need to clear it out of his blood. They started him back on dialysis today and are going to try it for 24 hours. Right now Phil's kidneys are not able to appropriately decide what to keep and what to get rid of. They are just urinating out everything. At least, they are producing something. Pray for God to heal his kidneys and to work outside of Robert's (nurse) little box. Robert tends to be pessimistic about Phil's kidneys but Dr. Levy is hopeful about them.
So today we continue to persevere with the Lord's strength. I will post some more updates in a minute regarding people to pray for in the waiting room.
