So as soon as we left the chapel, we received good news. Phil is doing well. His kidneys are functioning better. He is requiring less and less blood pressure medications. His liver enzymes are coming down. Due to the condition of the liver, they would rather transplant him again now than wait down the road. We found out that they have already had one offer but it was the wrong blood type. They are continuing the search and hope to have one within the next 36 hours. This is not because Phil has to have one within the next 36 hours but because one will probably be available in the timeline. His night nurse, Byron, is very please with Phil's current status regarding his blood pressure and urine output. This is very encouraging that he is becoming a better surgical candidate when the time comes. As our family joke goes, he is being "optimized"!! We are very grateful to have some people from the Oak's staying with us tonight. Justin went to get some rest. (If you haven't figured out by now, he is not writing the blog- his wife is) Please be praying specifically for the following:
-That this liver in his body would be healed
-That Phil's blood pressure would continue to improve and that he would NOT require any medications
-That his kidneys would continue to improve in function
-That the extra fluid on his body would continue to removed (He has thirty extra pounds of fluid on him) He is now on dialysis and plan is to continue this for 3-5 days in order to proceed slowly enough to where his pressures do not drop.
-That his liver enzymes will continue to decline
-That his current liver will continue to improve in its function and will sustain him until a new liver is available
-Pray for both sets of donor families. This is now 2 families that are grieving currently. Pray for their salvation and peace from God during this time.
-Pray for the surgeons, Dr. Levy, Dr. Ruiz, Dr. K, Dr. Houston for rest and restoration. Pray that they would come to know God's saving grace through this. Pray that their medical minds would be overwhelmed and that God would defy their medical books- that the only way they can explain what happened to Phil is by God. Pray for their wisdom and discernment in selecting the perfect liver.
-Pray for the weather to be good for the jet to fly in
-Pray for Kristin as she flys in tomorrow at noon
-Pray for our strenth, Beth, Justin, Kristin, and me. He has been so faithful to sustain us and I had a great deep nap this afteroon. Pray that we may rest well when we do rest.
-Pray for Phil's mom and sister, Very and Phyllis, in South Carolina as they endure this from afar
