Phil Stable Now

Just wanted to give everyone an update. It has been another crazy day here, but God is so faithful and is continuing to work in the midst of it all. Phil is still on the maximun amount of oxygen and the ventilator is maxed out, but now he is saturating at 97-98% which is a huge praise. He was maxed out earlier and saturating in the 70-80% range. They have now restarted his dialysis. They put his dialysis catheter in his neck. His blood pressure is staying up but he is requiring medications to keep it up. They just took blood to send off for culture to check and see if he has an infection in his blood. Dr. Levy came by and said the only thing he had to add to the current work up was to do a liver biopsy. He said he doesn't think he is having rejection, but they want to rule out everything because sometimes it can look like this picture. They did the liver biopsy at his bedside. They used ultrasound to localize the liver and did the biopsy. We won't have the results until maybe tomorrow. They talked with the cardiologist and his heart looks good. They don't think it is a blood clot in his lungs.

The lung doctor, Dr. Osafu, told us that Phil is the sickest person in this hospital and Dr. Ruiz said there are eyes watching Phil like a hawk. This is not necessarily the label we were going for. It seems like everyone knows about Phil. Our prayer in this is that God's name would continue to be made great through this- that God would continue to draw people to himself. As everyone is watching- may they see Christ and a miracle happen before their eyes. They keep trying to explain everything but they can't. Please pray for people to come to know Jesus through this.

Phil's mom, Vera, arrived today from South Carolina. Justin returned from Houston today.

We love everyone and continue to thank you for your prayers, support, food, text messages, emails, visits. Please keep praying and pleading for God to heal Phil's body and for His name to be made great through this-whatever that looks like. Pray for his lungs to heal and for oxygen to get into his blood. Pray for this liver to be healed if this is God's will. If not, pray for God's perfect timing in providing another liver and for Phil's body to be stable enough to endure surgery. Pray against infection. Pray for God to heal Phil's kidneys and that they can get rid of the acid in his blood and other chemicals they need to filter.

We are leaning on God's grace which continues to sustain us through this. 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness."

Will post more updates as they come.

  1. Hey Childress family. This is Wayne Lee. I just wanted to share something with you that happened today. Jleetia called me this afternoon about Phil's condition. I immediately called on the Lord. And Phil was already on my heart, but it became even more heavy as the day went on. As I was leaving work, I had to wait for a Chevy Astro Van to move. I looked at it and saw (something) Ministry. As it pulled up I saw on the back of the van, "EXPECT A MIRACLE". And I am claiming it. God isn't through with Phil yet.
I am still praying and expecting!!!!!!!!!!!!
