Wow- we had a good night!!! Praise God!! This is the first night all week where there weren't issues overnight. This verse came to mind this morning.
"Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:19-24
I am so grateful that we have hope because of Jesus, that He has made a way for each of us. I can't imagine going through all of this without the hope we have in Christ.
This morning Phil continues to saturate at 100% while being on 100% oxygen (FiO2 of 100%). This is improved from yesterday morning when he was at 100% oxygen and saturating only in the 70-80% range. They still aren't turning down the FiO2 because his blood gas still shows an oxygen pressure of 70's. You would expect this to be 300 or so on this much oxygen. His is much improved from yesterday when he had oxygen pressures in the 50's.
Praise God also for his blood pressure. He is now OFF all blood pressure medications and is maintaining his pressures in normal range. He is making better urine output now. They are no longer removing fluid with the dialysis, but are only filtering his blood.
His nurse today is Stephanie. She is very nice. She told me that she had never taken care of Phil but she knows about him.
I came over this morning to check on Phil and told Justin and Beth to stay in bed. I called them and gave them the good report and they are still resting for which I am glad for.
Keep praying for Bryan, the 30 year old man whose kidney transplant failed. They went back to surgery yesterday to remove his kidney. While they were in surgery, he vomited and it went into his lungs which can possible cause pneumonia. They have left him on the ventilator.
We met a new man, Brad, whose father had a piece of bone from his scapula (shoulder blade) taken and put into his jaw. His dad must lay flat on his back and not move. Please pray for God's peace and comfort as his father is agitated and struggling to lay flat on his back.
Pray for Sandra and her husband Mearl. He had a liver transplant in December 2007 and it did well but he has dealt with one thing after another. He fell in the fall and broke his hip and had a hip replacement. He finished rehab and then developed MRSA infection in his hip and they removed it. They have been here all but 9 days this year.
I haven't spoken with the doctors yet today- they come in later on Saturday. Can you blame them? They work all the time. I will post more once I talk with them.
