The next 24 hours.....

We talked with the transplant surgeon and he said the next 24 hours are very important. This morning Dad's liver enzymes were very high which can be typical the first 24 hours after surgery. Therefore, Dad's should peak this morning hopefully and start going downward. They will recheck them this afternoon and we pray that they are going down. If they continue to be high, they start to worry about what they call primary non-function which is where the new liver is not functioning. This could potentially mean another transplant would be necessary. We will start to see this afternoon with the blood work.

Please pray that Dad's body would accept his liver and it would "waken" up. Pray that it would start to make clotting factors and all that it needs to make.

The nurse just came and told us they started the surgery. Will let you know the results.
