The surgeons just came out and had some good and concerning news- they got the sponge out first, there was no bleeding, and they were able to decrease the amount of blood pressure medicines. He made a little more urine but they are about to start dialysis as he has about 25 pounds of fluid on him extra right now.
The concerning part was that the left lateral lobe of his new liver looked dusky (i.e. looked like it could be dying) so they reopened one of the arteries to look for a clot but didn't find one so they put the artery back together. His portal vein flow has decreased a little too.
SO.....this afternoon they will check his liver enzymes and if they are going down, that will be answered prayer. If they go up, they will relist him for a new liver this afternoon. They will list him as Status 1 which means they will be looking for livers all over the US. They are going to continue to keep him under and on the ventilator.
Please, please pray for this liver to wake up and start working. Please pray for Phil to be surrounded by God's peace and if he is able to hear anytime that He would hear God whispering to Him that He is in God's hands.
We are still in the 2nd floor ICU and are in the waiting room for now as we wait for Phil to come back. We trust that God is Sovereign and does not change.

Justin,
ReplyDeleteSo much prayer is going on for your dad right now. I know that Our Lord is so amazing and incrediable things can and will happen when you trust and believe. I also believe with all of my heart that Phil can and does hear you talking to him and feels your love and encouragement. I also believe that God has wrapped you father in His arms and love and has given him a peace that no one else can provide him. Our love and prayers are there with you and your family.
