They did the bronchoscopy without any complications. They sent some fluid for culture and will know something in a few days. They are currently treating the pneumonia that he has. We were told that having this localized infection doesn't keep him from being able to have a surgery. However, if the infection spread into his blood, they would have to wait until the infection cleared before he could go to surgery. Pray that God would kill the infection. Robert told us that our night nurse is good. Her name is Abby. We haven't met her yet. The current plan as of 6PM was to keep Phil sedated overnight and continue to let his lungs recover and oxygenate better.
The liver is not what is keeping Phil in the ICU and on the ventilator. It is his lungs. If he was able to oxygenate better, they would take the tube out and he could be awake and up on the transplant floor waiting on this second liver. Please continue to pray that God would heal Phil's lungs and strengthen them tonight and that the oxygen will dissolve in his blood. Beth, Justin, and I are sleeping in the motor home tonight since they are letting Phil sleep tonight too. Will update if anything changes when we go in at 9PM.
